Zwiesel is a glass-making firm that produces crystal glass with location in Zwiesel, Germany. The firm was founded in 1872 by Anton Mueller. Mueller sold the factory with buildings to two brothers Theodor and Gustav Tasche in Cologne. With continuing improvements and acquisitions of new equipment the product range was expanded in 1924 to include hollow glass for drinking purposes.

All glass production stagnated during WWII except production of optical glass for the war efforts. A color glass plant began manufacturing crystal glass in 1953. Within a few years machine production of cup glasses began. This was a success in the glass market. Significant changes after a management buyout took place in 2001. In 2006 that bold undertaking was awarded the title of “Turnaround of the year”. Today this glass house employs 700 workers with about 500 in Zwiesel. On the grounds of Zwiesel Kristalglass AG is a pyramid of the worlds highest made up of 93,000 glasses (26 ft. high).
