The Macallan Whiskey
The Macallan Distillery was founded in 1824 in Speyside. The Speyside region of Scotland is home to more than half of Scotland’s whisky distilleries. The water from the Lour and Spey rivers is rich in minerals and is prized in whisky production for its softness. The Macallan produces 8-, 10-, 12-, 15-, 17-, 18-, 21-, 25-, and 30-year-old single malt Scotch whiskies, typically aged in bourbon and sherry casks. The most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold was The Macallan Vintage 1926 sold by Christie’s New York on December 8, 2007 for $54,000.
