In Persian carpets, Sarouk is a type of rug produced in the Arak region of modern Iran.

Sarouk rugs are named for the village of Saruk where the carpet-making industry developed largely in the 1910s, 20s and 30s during the height of popularity of oriental rugs on the international market, and to meet the market demands of consumers in the United States especially.

Sarouk rugs are constructed of high quality wool and made along a Persian knot. There is of course a distinction to be made between the older designs, native to Sarouk, and those which are influenced by a wider range of Persian rugs that were introduced as the scale of production grew.

The older examples of these are especially prized by collectors; at a January 2011 auction at Nadeau's in Windsor, CT, and older Sarouk, though relatively small, easily achieved $1,200.
