Established in 1899 in East Aurora, NY., this shop was part of Elbert Hubbard’s visionary craftsmans village enterprise. The Copper Shop produced much creative work and engaged many superb designers such as Dard Hunter Art Cole, Walter Jennings, Karl Kipp and others who went on to establish their own copper shops. By 1938 the Roycroft shops were bankrupt and shut down. The fourteen original Roycroft buildings, including the Copper Shop, are preserved and recognized as a U.S., National Historic Landmark.
