The history of Rado watchtes began in the small Swiss town of Longeau, when the three brothers, Fritz and Ernst Werner Schlup, founded the watchmaking workshop of Schlup & Co in 1917. Just 40 years later, Rado Uhren AG, as the firm is known to day, was born in 1957. Since its inception, Rado has never ceased to delight watch lovers worldwide through its groundbreaking innovations. The watch model "Original", a vintage Rado watch, was first produced in 1962, and was the first scratchproof watch launched on the market. Many other high-tech innovations have followed. Since the 1980s, a characteristic sign of vintage Rado watches has been use of high tech ceramic as a design material. The biggest innovation to date is perhaps the Rado model High-Tech. With a hardness of 10 000 Vickers, the V10K is the hardest watch in the world. Rado watches are not only performed in high-quality materials but are also famous for their high level of aesthetic quality. Since 1990, Rado has won over 30 international design awards. Some of the most popular current collections are the men's Rado D-Original, the Rado Hyperchrome, and the Rado True watch.
