Permian
The Permian period refers to the geologic period in the history of the earth that was witness to the some of the earliest developments vertebrate land mammals, archosaurs, lepidosaurs and turtles. The Permian period was the last period of what is known as the Paleozoic Era and particularly worthy of study to natural historians and collectors because it represents the time of the greatest known mass extinction. Examples of Permian period specimens to have appeared on the auction market in recent years include plate fossils of sharks, fish, trilobites, early amphibians, dinosaur foot prints and teeth.
