Mystery clocks are called “Impossible Clocks”.

Antique Mystery clocks are deemed mysterious because there seems to be no connection between the hands and the mechanism of the clock. The hands were often suspended in a clear substance, such as crystal.

Some mystery clocks are constructed in fanciful designs, taking the forms of animals or figures, while others features elaborate decoration.

Auction highlights include an antique Rare Art Deco Mystery Clock sold at Christie’s New York on April 20, 2004 for $107,550.
