Glen Grant Whiskey
The Glen Grant distillery was established in the Speyside region. The Speyside region of Scotland is home to more than half of Scotland’s whisky distilleries. The water from the Lour and Spey rivers is rich in minerals and is prized in whisky production for its softness.
The distillery was founded by two illegal whisky distillers and smugglers and was legitimized in 1840 when John and James Grant took out a license. Glen Grant single malt is prized for its crisp taste. The whisky is used in the Chivas Regal blended scotch whisky. The distillery produces 5-, 10- and 15-year-old malts. A decanter of vintage Glen Grant 10-year-old sold by Christie’s London on November 25, 1999 fetched $4,069.
