Gabriel Viardot
Gabriel Viardot (1830-1906) was a Parisian cabinet maker who inherited his family workshop and began creating wooden sculpted furniture. He was known for his Chinese and Japanese - inspired furniture; his creations were interpretations of oriental models, adapted to European 19th century taste. In the second half of the 19th century, he began to incorporate fantastic visions in his furniture, included mythological creatures and exotic animals. Viardot's work was very successful and had won four medals during his career.
