Ten American Painters
Group of American painters who exhibited together from 1898 to 1918. In 1897 ten New York- and Boston-based artists withdrew from the Society of American Artists, the most progressive art organization of the period. Their common interest was not the promotion of a new art, but rather the improvement of the quality of their exhibitions.
