Futurism
Futurism was a social and artistic philosophy put forth by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti in his “Futurist Manifesto” of 1909. It glorified all that was modern, industrial and technologically advanced. The Futurists had a mania for trains, planes and automobiles. For the most part, the movement was localized in Italy as it was closely tied to sentiments of Italian nationalism, though cubo-futurism was adopted by a group of artists in Russia.
