Clocks, Barometers & Scientific Instruments
One of the most crucial of human inventions, a clock is an instrument used to indicate, keep, and co-ordinate time. The word clock is derived from the Celtic words clagan and clocca meaning "bell". Early forms of clocks include sundials, candle clocks and hourglasses.
A barometer is a scientific instrument used in meteorology to measure atmospheric pressure. It can measure the pressure exerted by the atmosphere by using water, air, or mercury. The first barometers were developed in Italy in the 17th century.
