Description: SHERATON SIDEBOARD - New York Sheraton Figured Mahogany Shaped Front Sideboard, attributed to Duncan Phyfe, NYC, first quarter 19th c, raised backsplash with two deck drawers, five drawers beneath and two bowed central cupboard doors, flanked by a bottle drawer on each side, and two long platter drawers, the whole raised on tapering turned reeded legs fitted with original brass ball turned feet, retaining first period oval brass pulls, 46 1/2" tall working surface at center, 55" tall overall, 77 3/4" x 29", near fine condition with minor shrinkage cracks to panel veneers. A very similar example is housed at Boscobel, Garrison NY Hudson Valley mansion, see Plate 40 in 'Federal Furniture and Decorative Arts at Boscobel' by Berry B. Tracy, publ Harry Abrams, 1981.
