The cylinder shows Elg(Belgian) and crown over U proofs. The barrel shows 80% to 90% original bright blue with some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting mostly at the edges. The frame shows 80% to 90% case hardening drifting to the silvery gray withsome faint evidence of rainbow colors. There are 3 small tap holes drilled on left side of the frame which may have been for a belt hook. The action is crisp and the safety pins are retained. Description: Interesting European double action revolver of trademarked Excelsior and manufactured by S.J. & D in 9 mm center fire, double action with 6 shot cylinder, 11" overall with 6" octagon barrel. The left side of the frame is marked in a cartouche S. J & D. The bottom of the barrel is marked 5374 and the grips shows an Excelsior trademark on one side and SJ & D manufactures initials on the right. The left side of the revolver hinges away to expose the action and the quality of machiningis excellent. The metal retains 90% to 95% original nickel with some small losses and areas where the nickel is lost are just starting some light erosion and pinprick pitting. The grips are very good plus with some slight edge wear and theaction works but not perfectly. The markings are sharp and the edges are crisp. This fine and rare European revolver is not often seen. The reverse of the ricasso shows a W. Clauberg, Solingen andmarked with iron proof. The blade is very finely etched with scrolls, stand of arms and a U.S. with inscription panel etched 8 ½" from the tip in front of the standard etching and approximately 5" in length the inscription reads "LT. A. Hiram,Plummer from C. A. 155th Ind. (Indiana) Vols". The blade is in fine to near excellent condition showing most of the original polish with frosty etching just beginning minor normal age and the etched panel is absolutely authentic. The scabbard and hilt are also very good plus to near fine and a period sword knot is included. The scabbard shows a couple of minor dings, dents and etc. From the estate of Mel Kessen. The very straight blade measures 25 ½" across the cutting-edge and is in good conditionfor its age showing some slight erosion and beginning pitting with small areas of exposed core or Kizu. There is a nice grain to the steel and the temper line is visible to the tip. The blade has been cleaned lightly (not Japanese). The tangshows a dark rust and the black mountings have been repainted. Brass Tsuba and fittings are probably of the World War II era except a very old hibaki and one mount is older. Est.: $1,000-$3,000.

The frame shows 20% to 40% case hardening and is drifting to a light silvery gray with some faint colors mixed in. The lever, action part and tangshow traces of original blue. Description: High-quality European pin-fire revolver deep scroll engraved with blued and bright metal finish showing a gold band on the cylinder with ivory grips. Contain in its original to the period French style fitted case, serial number 2890. Thepistol was finished in French gray or bright metal with a blued cylinder. The pistol shows Belgian proofs and remains in very good condition with just some minor light erosion and starting normal age. The cylinder retains 75% to 85% of itsoriginal blue and there is one small area of pitting on the left middle of barrel. The engraving is deeply cut and well executed in florals and scrolls with very fine engraving on the grip screw and escutcheon. The ivory grips are in very good condition with a mellow patina and fit impeccably. The gun measures 8" overall with 3 ¾" barrel of approximately 7.5 mm with a 6 shot cylinder. The right side of the frame is mounted with an ejector rod and a loading gate. The pistol shows a folding trigger. The action works well and is tight. Description: Fine quality Eastern European Wheelock fowling piece with ornate brass, pearl and dyed bone inlay circa 17th-century. The gun measures 44" overall with 34" barrel of nearly 1" smoothbore. The lock is nicely engraved with floral and game scenes.The stock shows brass wire along with brass plaques that are engraved matching to the engraving on the lock plate. The inlays and the stock are in very good condition for their age with 95% plus original inlays remaining just somesmall losses of wire and a couple of minor replacements of inlay. The stock has been coated with a clear lacquer long ago as was the tradition of old collectors and the interior of the lock is complete with all of its small parts. The lockshows brass ornaments and the metal has a deep patina with a small area of slight cleaning at the breech area long ago where someone started to clean this nice patina and then stopped. The gun weighs about 7 pounds and actually points quitewell. This is the largest bore and most ornate Wheelock of this type that we have catalogued. Description: Collection consisting of Civil War to Indian war era kepi with tin camp cup marked US on handle and photograph of Civil War veteran wearing his G.A.R badge with his son or grandson who is in a World War I solider in uniform. This ensemble came outof a local estate but the names were not known. The kepi shows repair to the lining and replaced sweatband also a great deal of re-stitching and repair during period of use. The US embroidered emblem also shows re-stitching and the hat cordand buttons are good and still retained. The photograph is an old sepia tone off original negative and measures 9.5" x 8" with some cracking and small losses at the edges. The Cup is very good with some normal rust and oxidation.
