Made in 1913. Sheard dovetail brass insert blade front sight and semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight, with the two line Nickel Steel marking, "30 U.S.MOD.1903" caliber mark and Winchester proof near the breech. Standard patent markings on the frame, with a checkered panel on the receiver ring, offset double-stamped Winchester proof, side-mounted Lyman 5Apeep sight and standard tang model markings. Smooth straight grip stock, with ebony insert in the Schnabel forearm tip, fancy grain in the butt, and a smooth casehardened buttplate. The U.S. 30 Caliber 1903 cartridge was the interim between the 30 Krag and the 30-06, and saw extremely limited production.
