Manufactured in 1891. The rifle is fitted with a factory replacement size 3 barrel marked on the left flat "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 7, 1879" followed by "32-40" at the breech. The top flat of the barrel is factory rebarreled stamped with two factory proofs, with both sights removed (front dovetail unfilled). Equipped with a folding tang peep sight. The patent date and serial number are stamped on the lower tang. Mounted on a deluxe pistol grip stock with checkered Schnabel forearm with ebony tip and ebony grip insert, raised cheekpiece and nickel plated late type Swiss style buttplate. No factory letter is available to writer at time of description.
