Manufactured in 1882, this is a Second Model 1876 Lever Action rifle with the dust cover guide rail secured to the receiver with two screws. German silver blade front sight and adjustable sporting leaf rear sight. The top barrel flat is marked "WINCHESTER'S- REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT / KING'S- IMPROVEMENT- PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." and there are no caliber markings. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1876" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel end cap and steel crescent buttplate with compartment.
