Produced in 1883, and adapted to use centerfire cartridges. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the barrel marked with the two line "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS, NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860" on top and a faint stamp reading "??OWNING BROS, ????" on the left side below the rear sight. The serial number is marked in script on the lower tang behind the lever, with "F F MOOTZ" on the upper flat of the frame, saddle ring on the left side of the receiver and lever latch with exposed threads. Fitted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with an iron buttplate and buttstock compartment.
