Williamson (Daniel Alexander, 1823-1903). A Spaniel on the Moors, retrieving a blackcock, June 2nd, 1877, watercolour, heightened with bodycolour, signed with monogram, and dated, 66 x 52 cm (26 x 20.5 ins), maplewood veneer frame by John Campbell, master framers, glazed Daniel Alexander Williamson (1823-1903), Liverpool landscape and genre painter, the son of Daniel Williamson (1783-1843), who settled in Carnforth, Lancashire, around 1860. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street between 1849 and 1871. A number of his works are held at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
