Description:
William Rickerby Miller (American, 1818-1893), "Mississippi Sunset", c. 1852; oil/canvas, 14" x 19", signed; inscribed on stretcher, "Beavoir Miss". Miller exhibited at the National Academy of Design as early as the 1840s. He began to enjoy success as a painter and illustrator by the 1850s.
