Vessels in a squall off the coast black chalk, on blue paper 121/2 x 191/4 in. (31.7 x 48.9 cm.) NOTES Born in Ennis at County Clare, he moved to Dublin and then London and entered the Royal Academy Schools at fourteen. He supported his family by teaching and painting theatrical scenery.
