WILLIAM GAY YORKE (BRITISH 1817-C.1888). THE SANDBAGGER "ORIENT" OFF OWL'S HEAD, BROOKLYN, CIRCA 1885. Owl's Head was a Brooklyn promintory often used as the start or finish point for races in New York harbor, depending on which way the wind was blowing. Fort Lafayette and Fort Hamilton are in the background. Oil on canvas, 20 x 26 1/4 inches.
