Description: Vertical Fore Edge Painted Book
"The Plays of William Shakespeare, Accurately Printed from the Text of the Corrected Copies, Left by the Late George Stevens, Esq., and Edmond Malone, Esq." Printed for C & J Rivington; et al. by Stirling and Slade, A. Black, P. Brown, and J. Fairbairn, London, 1826. In green leather with gilt title and decoration. AEG. Thick octavo. Unusual vertical fore edge painting of a scene from one of the tragedies with a portrait of Shakespeare over top of the scene. Binding is faded to brown with scuffing to front. Corners are bumped and frayed and edges are scuffed. Very good condition. From the Collection of General W.H. Vanderlinden, Jr., late of Hickory, North Carolina.
