Notes: Educated at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Antwerp, the Slade School and in Paris under the tutelage of J. P. Laurens, Thomas Cooper Gotch settled in 1887 at Newlyn, Cornwall, where he belonged to the Newlyn School of plein-air painters. His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1880 onwards.
