etching, 1879, a touched proof of the second state (of seven), almost certainly the impression cited in Lister, with additions in pencil and chinese white by the artist, annotated in pencil in the lower margin 'For Touching' and '3rd Proving 1st May 1879', in the upper margin 'Remember the farther roof' (these inscriptions strengthened), other faint annotations in pencil on the reverse (including two sketches of what appears to be a flintlock pistol), with an entry from an exhibition catalogue stuck to the right margin (V&A Museum, November 1928 - April 1929, according to a note on the backboard), some surface dirt and minor defects, generally in good condition, framed
