Probably by descent from Margaret Wharton to her half-sister Jane, Baroness Wharton, wife of Robert Coke, who left her estate to Anna Maria Draycott, wife of George Fermor, 2nd Earl of Pomfret

CATALOGUE NOTE

Margaret Wharton was the daughter of Philip, 4th Baron Wharton (see lot 48) and his second wife Jane Goodwin. She was married three times: firstly to Major Dunch of Pusey who died in 1679; secondly to Sir Thomas Sulyarde, Bt. who died in 1692; and thirdly to William 12th Baron Ross who died in 1738. By her first husband she had one son and two daughters.
