seated, half-length, in a white shirt and brown jacket oil on canvas The present portrait is inscribed, signed and dated on the reverse of the canvas Geo John Fraser of Reelig A 15/ Raeburn pinx. 1815. According to Grieg (see Literature below) Fraser was fifteen when he sat for the artist. Fraser served in the East India Company and died in Delhi in 1842. A portrait of the sitter's brother, Edward Satchwell Fraser is in the Robert Lehman Collection, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
