SIR EDWIN HENRY LANDSEER R.A. (1802-1873) 'Trout Fishing On The Daune', oil on oak panel, unsigned. Contained in molded gilt frame with nameplate. Labels on verso: (1) 19th c. label in center, partially legible: E.Landseer R.A. purchased by Mrs. Agnew of.......1853., (1) Christie's label: S179 to Heather, and (1) typewritten label that reads: ''See illustrated catalogue of Landseer by Algernon Graves, photograph no. 79, in the possession of the British Museum, contains a reproduction of Mr. Norweb's Landseer where it is entitled ''Trout Fishing On The Daune'' (Don in Scotland). Painted 1824. Lithographed by W. Gauci in 1856, and published in a set of celebrated English landscapes.'' Condition: no visible defects, examined under ultraviolet light. Dimensions: 10 3/8'' X 14'', frame 15'' X 18 1/2''. Provenance: Estate of Elizabeth G. Norweb.
