Mario Segantini ist der Sohn von Giovanni Segantini (1858 - 1899). Die Familie bestand zudem aus Gottardo (1882-1974), Alberto (1885-1904), Bianca (Mai 1886-1980) und der Mutter Luigia Bugatti (1863-1938). Mario war ein sehr talentierter Schüler seines Vaters und verstarb leider bereits im Alter von 31 Jahren. Auch Mario Segantini widmete sich der Plainairmalerei und hielt mit scharfem Auge die Schönheit seiner Umgebung fest. Das hier angebotene Gemälde entstand jedoch in seinem Atelier und zeigt deutlich wie allgegenwärtig der Glaube der Familie Segantini in ihren Gemälden unterschiedlich festgehalten wird.
