Scarce, standard grade, Winchester Model 65 Lever-Action Rifle. This rifle is one of the 5704 Model 65 Rifles manufactured by Winchester between 1933 and 1947. The rifle has a full blue finish. The walnut stock and beavertail forearm are lacquer finished. The stock has a checkered steel, shotgun buttplate and un-capped pistol grip. The forearm has a blued steel cap. The rifle has the 24-inch barrel that was standard for all Model 65 rifles chambered for the .218 Bee cartridge. The barrel has a ramp front sight and a factory blank in the rear sight dovetail. The bolt is fitted with a factory Lyman 98A peep rear sight that was available for rifles chambered for the .218 Bee cartridge. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: "-WINCHESTER/PROOF STEEL-" followed by "MODEL 65" and "WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK" and the caliber "-218 Bee-". Winchester oval "WP" proof marks are stamped on the top of the barrel and receiver. The two-line, Winchester, legend with Hartford address is roll-stamped on the opposite side of the barrel. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped: "-WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK-/-MADE IN U.S.A.-" in three lines. The serial number is roll-stamped on the forward edge of the receiver bottom.
