Notes: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION
Rusiñol painted a series of vistas of Girona throughout the 1910s and 1920s. The present view, dating from 1918, from Sant Pere de Galligants in the north of the old town, shows the cathedral on the left, whose single nave, built in 1416 by Guillem Bofill, possesses the widest Gothic span in the Christian world. On the far right can be seen the unfinished Gothic bell tower of the Church of Sant Feliu.

Two related views, centering on the octagonal tower in the grounds of Sant Pere de Galligans (visible in the foreground of the present work) are in the Museu d'Art de Girona and the Museu Comarcal del Maresme, Mataró, respectively.
