Description: SAMPLER. Possibly New England. Silk on linen. Signed Mary Bowman, age 12, and dated 183[?]. Large peafowl, one perched on striped heart, the other on what appears to be a flattened cornucopia. Framed inscription, religious verse and set of alphabets all enclosed in black sawtooth inner border. Loosely crafted wide floral border. Bottom of sampler appears unfinished. Minor thread breaks and small hole. Modern frame. 19"h. 17 1/2"w.
