Portrait de Madame Heim with the studio stamp 'Robert Delaunay' (lower right) oil on board laid down on panel 421/4 x 283/4in. (107.3 x 72.7cm.) Painted circa 1926-27 PROVENANCE Estate of Madame de Gavardie, Paris. NOTES Madame Heim was the wife of the fashion designer with whom Sonia Delaunay, the artist's wife, worked closely. In the present work the artist has combined figurative painting with the stylised geometrical shapes that were the hallmark of 'Orphism'. The sitter wears a shawl designed by Sonia.
