SURFACE: in original condition; varnish is very dirty (scattered dark specks look like mold); a 1-1/2 in. horizontal tear at center, right (in middle of mast of ship at right); a couple of scattered, tiny losses UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: no apparent inpainting; dark spots (as mentioned above) look like mold
