Condition/Details: Bound in brown cloth with gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce review of pre-Civil War army regulations, with an introduction paragraph by Jefferson Davis, at the time the Secretary of War, who later became the President of the Confederate States of America. Below the introduction, a previous owner wrote that Davis was a traitor and "May he live to be captured and hung for his actions and conduct." The ex-library volume shows external age/wear, with the front board detached, and the spine cover only attached along the rear board. The text block is well bound with age toned pages and some darkening along the edges. The book measures approximately 5" x 7.5" and contains 457 pages, with a 21 page appendix.
