This is the third cartridge board issued by Winchester. It is the first to use what will later become the "classic" design by using green lithograph paper with the bullet information in gold print and the Winchester shells mounted directly to the board. The board has the original wood frame which was constructed using the "square nail" which were the only type of nail used in the construction of these boards. The back side of the original paper backing is correctly marked "COMPLIMENTS OF / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN" in the center and "Please hang in a / Conspicuous Place" on the lower left hand corner. The board measures 38"x28" including the frame. The board displays the cartridges and shotgun shells Winchester produced at the time, as well as displaying 4 tins of percussion caps. These boards are seldom seen and rarely offered for sale.
