It always seems that toys emulate real life as in this particular example. From the latter part of the 19th Century Ives Blakesley of Connecticut produced this toy for a number of years. This particular version features a tin horse head with a male youth propelling his perambulator forward by pushing and pulling on the right and left sticks. In reality, the clockwork mechanism concealed under the wooden seat drives the rear wheels forward in a clockwork motion. In untouched, as found condition this toy and the following three lots come directly out of a New Hampshire attic and were consigned by an elderly gentleman. The papier mache headed figure is dressed in a red cotton coat and dark green cotton pants in dire need of some dusting and cleaning. SIZE: Approx. 8" l. CONDITION: Overall good. Boy's head has a large crack navigating the crown, clothing is fragile and quite dusty, lacking wire from front yoke that controls direction. 1-9462
