Rare English Pulley-Drive Demonstration Zoetrope for Illustrating "Persistence of Vision", c. 1870 Maker unknown, with 11 in. (28 cm) diameter, metal drum (repaired), hand-turned pulley system, and tapering mahogany base, base length 23 in. (58 cm), with base design and strip. The sturdy construction and unusual means of rotation suggest that this zoetrope was built by an instrument maker with a serious demonstration purpose in mind, probably for a college or scientific institution.
Sehr seltenes englisches Seilzug-Demonstra- tions-Zoetrope, c. 1870 Unbekannter Hersteller, Trommel mit 28 cm Durchmesser (repariert), Handkurbel mit Seilzugantrieb, Grundbrett aus Mahagoni, Länge: 58 cm, mit Bodenmotiv und Streifen. Sehr außergewöhnliche Bauart für ein Zoetrope.
