Cotuit shore scene with figures, horse-drawn carriage, and sailboats. Signed lower right "R. Cahoon". This painting and the previous one were painted on commission for the late Carter Whitcomb of Cotuit, MA in the early 1950s. They hung in his boathouse until the 1970s when they were removed to be remounted on fiberboard, cleaned, and framed. This painting was sold by Eldred''s as Lot#598 in August 1982. 11'' x 45", with the upper corners of angled down to 25" at the ends from a central section 20" long. This configuration was necessary as the painting was hung under the eaves of the boathouse.
