Condition Note: The panel is cradled and there are three vertical panel joins visible to the naked eye, one of which has some paint loss, as is visible in catalogue illustration. The paint surface is under an uneven varnish. There are crude restorations and filled losses visible throughout the composition. Despite this, the painting still reads well and presents a strong image. There are nice passages in Madonna's face and to putto at left. Ultra violet light reveals aforementioned as well as retouches at right side in putto, to her arm and along panel joins. This painting has not been attended to in many years and would benefit from sensitive cleaning and re-addressing of old restorations.
