Foster of Jersey City, NJ on March 19, 1867, it is very beautifully constructed of finely finished wood with brass gears and other metal components, a supplied description of action is as follows "Raw peat is fed into a hopper on top of the machine and is ground, cut and mixed by a series of counter rotating blades, then forced through cylindrical die much like meat through a meat grinder. The cylinder or log of peat (when) it attains a desired length ... pushes a trigger" and is cut off and rolled to a conveyor; the model appears fully functional and retains original patent tag
