Pair of Large Asian Bamboo Figural Carvings
ca. 1900, the first depicting male and female characters lounging amid fruits, 24.25 in.; the second is fashioned as a long boat carrying (8) smiling deities, one of whom is steering the craft, 17 in. The undersides of both works retain portions of the bamboo's naturally segmented surface.
Proceeds go to the Animal Protection Society of Durham
The smaller carving has some age cracks and displays a pleasing reddish patina.
