Ship'S Portrait Of Barkentine 'Lizzie Merry' By Conrad Freitag (Ny, 18021894), Dated June 1875, Signed Lower Left And With His Nyc Address Of 173 South Street. The Ship Was Built In 1871 By Charles Glidden Merry Of Damariscotta, Maine, For Whom Merry Island Is Named. She Is Depicted With Schooner And Coastline In Distance. In Cottage Carved Black Walnut Deep Cove Frame With Gilt Liner Having Ship'S Name Lettered At Bottom, Ss: 25" X 33", Os: 34" X 44", Very Good Untouched Condition, Small Single Puncture Bottom Center. This Painting Descended Directly From The Ship'S Builder, Who Named The Ship After His Wife, To His Daughter, Who Had The Same Name, Who Donated It To Skidompha Library Of Damariscotta, Maine In The 1960'S. This Is Being Sold To Benefit The Library.
