Cleveland Institute of Art class of 1928, winner of many awards and a scholarship to the Slade Art School in London which he attended1924-1929. He exhibited at many of the Cleveland Museum of Art's May shows, most notably in 1946 when he received the first prize for three biblical subjects, "Jacob's Dream," "Good. Samaritan," and "Deposition," . Three of his paintings "Jacob's Dream", "Design for Music" & "Mother & Child" are in the permanent collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art. He was a WPA artist who completed several murals and public works of art, most notably for The Terminal Tower, The Cleveland Public Auditorium, and the 23 1/2 ft. by 11 1/4 ft mural on canvas for the Rocky River Masonic Lodge.
He was friends with Carl Gaertner & Roy Lichtenstein. Michael's wife Isabel Wilson left him to marry Roy Lichtenstein. He was on the faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Art.
