Condition/Details: Bound in black cloth with bright embossed silver and rose lettering, this antique volume is a scarce study of traditional devotional arts of the Hispanic Americas. This book traces the use and artistry of milagros, small objects offered to Saints and other popular deities by Latin Americans in return for favors or answered prayers. This copy includes the sterling silver milagro representing a traditional Mexican heart design, which is attached to the bound-in ribbon bookmark. The work contains in-text illustrations, as well as black and white and color photographs. The volume shows very light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean, bright pages. Intact slipcase is well preserved. Small promotional booklet is laid in. The book measures approximately 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" and contains 119 pages.
