MANNER OF CLAUDE RAGUET HIRST (American, 1855-1942) STILL LIFE WITH BOOKS AND CANDLESTICK. Oil on artist board scene shows an open book with reading glasses next to three other books, brass candlestick with candle, paper sack and wick trimmers against a grayish background. Signed bottom right Claude Raguet Hirst, N.Y.". Housed in a fine apple vine decorated period frame. Though the signature does not fluoresce, the style appears to be looser, possibly indicating an early study or a late work. SIZE: 13-1/2" x 18-1/2". CONDITION: Very good with a few very minor spots of inpainting, mostly in the background. 9-94165 (2,500-4,000)
