MANES Josef (15. 2. 1820 Prague - 9. 12. 1871 Prague) Dusk - design for a print for an album of the Union of Artists Gouache and chalk on paper, 41 x 60 cm, mounted, glazed, undated [1852-55], expertise by Jakub Obrovsky from 1935 on the reverse, purchased from Amalie Manesova in 1879. Czech painter, draughtsman and illustrator, he studied under F. Tkadlik and C. Ruben at the Prague Academy of Arts, his early work reflects the influence of his father's Romantic paintings, later he developed a specific harmonious lyrical style.
