Condition/Details: This lot is part of a large collection of minted medallions that we are selling during the course of today's auction. This original Charles Lindbergh medal was issued by the United States Congress in May 1928. It is intended to commemorate the aviator's 1927 Orteig Prize-winning solo non-stop flight from Roosevelt Field on Long Island to Le Bourget Field in Paris in the single-seat, single-engine monoplane Spirit of St. Louis. The front of medal shows Lindbergh in profile wearing pilot cap; the reverse depicts flying eagle with sunrise in the background. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $6.50
