Description:

at the Akademie der Bildenden Kunst in Munich, and at the Academie Julian in 1891-92. Putz was greatly influenced by the work of the Munich Seccessionists, particularly Franz von Stuck. He and Fritz Erler formed the artistic group, Die Scholle. He worked in South America between 1928-1933, and his work painted there was more expressionistic, reminiscent of the style of Die Brucke. He taught at the Academia de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro from 1931-33. He returned to Munich in the 1930s, but was condemned by the Nazis, so he left again for Merano. This work is an excellent example of Putz’s work done in South America.
