SKETCH -- FARM YARD signed; signed and titled twice on the reverse, once on a label oil on panel 27.3 by 34.9 cm. 10 3/4 by 13 3/4 in. Rural scenes and working farms were close to Toronto in the early 1900's, and this work bears a strong resemblance to John Street in Thornhill, where Harris's good friend and fellow artist J.E.H. MacDonald lived, as did several others who later formed the Group of Seven. This work was probably painted around 1916.
